Terms of Service
Last updated: 3 June 2025
Section 1 — Nature of the service
CounselMe is an educational practice platform designed for counselling students and practitioners. It provides AI-simulated client sessions, skill feedback, and study materials for the purpose of developing counselling skills.
CounselMe is NOT a therapy service, a supervision service, or a replacement for qualified clinical supervision. The AI clients and feedback are educational tools only. Nothing in CounselMe constitutes professional advice, clinical guidance, or therapeutic intervention.
Section 2 — Eligibility
You must be 18 years or older to use CounselMe. By creating an account you confirm that you are using CounselMe for educational and professional development purposes only.
Section 3 — Your account
You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials. You must not share your account with others. CounselMe reserves the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.
Section 4 — Subscription and payment
CounselMe offers a free trial period followed by a paid monthly subscription. Subscription fees are billed monthly via PayFast. Prices are displayed in South African Rand (ZAR) and are inclusive of VAT where applicable. Prices may change with 30 days notice.
Section 5 — Refunds
Because CounselMe is a digital service with immediate access, we do not offer refunds on subscription payments once a billing period has begun. If you believe you have been charged in error, contact us at support@counselme.app within 7 days.
Section 6 — Free trial
Your free trial begins on the date you create your account. At the end of the trial period, your access to paid features will be restricted unless you subscribe. Trial terms may change at our discretion.
Section 7 — Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use CounselMe for any unlawful purpose
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or extract AI models or content from the platform
- Share or reproduce CounselMe content, lesson materials, or client scenarios without permission
- Impersonate another person or misrepresent your identity

All content on CounselMe — including lesson materials, client scenarios, feedback frameworks, and the CounselMe name and logo — is owned by CounselMe and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. Your session data and skill progress belong to you.
Section 9 — Limitation of liability
CounselMe is provided on an "as is" basis. To the fullest extent permitted by law, CounselMe is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the platform. CounselMe does not guarantee specific outcomes from using the platform.
